Tools for Staying Connected in Remote Startup

Posted on February 27, 2024

Running a startup with a remote team requires staying in touch constantly. Sometimes, email is not enough, and you need to find other solutions for better communication and supervising tasks done by your workers.

In this article, we show you some useful tools that help you stay connected with your startup team.

Staying in touch

Staying in touch with a remote team is extremely important. Your workers should have a feeling that they can communicate with you or another team member easily. That’s why you should invest in tools to improve conversations between departments or employees.

  • Slack: Every remote team needs a headquarters. Many companies or startups use Slack for communications, project groups, sending files, taking notes, and many more. It allows creating rooms, so your worker can create many different channels connected with different topics, even those outside of work.
  • Zoom: It’s an easy platform in which people do video conferences. It has free and paid plans that differ in maximum meeting time. It’s a great tool for daily, short, or longer meetings. Furthermore, it has a screen share and recording meeting function.
  • World Time Buddy: It’s a great tool for those who have clients or workers in different time zones. Thanks to this, you know what hour it is on the other side of the Earth, making it easy to set meetings in multi-country startups.

Productivity

Not working in the same place may make it difficult to manage people. Here are the tools that help you delegate tasks and supervise what your remote startup team is doing.

  • Trello: It’s one of the best tools that help people manage projects. It lets you create boards with different tasks for one team, one person, or for the whole office. The idea is based on a to-do table. You create a task for your workers, and they put it in the right place during that particular task. It may seem complicated, but it is an easy and helpful solution. The best way to manage different tasks is to add new tasks on Monday morning for the whole week. During the workweek, just supervise how the work is going.
  • Toggl: When you use Trello, sometimes you may miss the tool to see what your team is working on right now. Toggl fills that gap.
  • Google Drive: The best place for keeping all needed information, files, and documents for the team is Google Drive. One drive with all important information and easy access for every worker.

Building Community

Most people listen to music during work. Let your team feel more integrated by listening to one playlist created by your workers. Use Spotify or Apple Music for that purpose.

For more useful tools that help you stay connected with a remote team, ask your workers. We bet that all of them have one tool that helps them integrate or relax during work. Asking such a question may be a great experience for getting to know them better.
